New York is home to some of the tallest buildings in the country. The Great Fire of 1835 encouraged the use of stone and brick, later the high cost of land resulted in high-rise residential and office buildings. You can find great architectural designs from various eras and styles in New York. The most admired skyscraper in the city is the Chrysler Building, an Art Deco marvel that uses hubcaps and eagles in its decor and crown.
