Upper West Side

While not as wealthy as the Upper East Side, Manhattan's Upper West Side has nothing to envy its across-the-park sister neighborhood. The area is generally made up of the island's upper middle class and wealthy residents, but there are plenty of areas that are affordable to most people. It is also home to artists, writers and actors who take advantage of the areas close proximity to the Theater District, cultural venues and intuitions of higher education. It is border by the Hudson River to the west and Central Park to the east.

Within its boundaries can be found the world renowned Lincoln Center, the American Museum of Natural History, the Time Warner Center and Columbia University. The Lincoln Center is the biggest performing arts center in the United States, sitting on 16.3 acres and is home to 12 arts organizations. While the American Museum of Natural History is four floors of exhibition space that one could spend the whole day observing.
