It is located adjacent to the Pennsyvania Hotel, although it has a separate entrance from the hotel, in the same building. It was built by the famous architects McKim, Meade and White, who also built the east and west wing of the White House and other landmarks in New York City. The Pennsylvania Railroad built the Pennsyvania Hotel in 1919, to accommodate passengers who required convenient accommodations. The Pavillion was added later. The famous Glenn Miller Orchestra performed regularly.

The Pavillion was the site of filming of  "America's Next Top Model", trade show exhibits for comic book collectors and artists, intimate apparel and fashion shows.
