Cherry Blossom Festival
If you are a botanical buff or just like the beauty of nature, stop by the Brooklyn Botanical Garden in Manhattan for Sakura Matsuri, better known as the Cherry Blossom Festival. Celebrated for more than 25 years, the main act at this festival is Mother Nature herself. Bright pink flowers explode with color on the branches of the cherry trees and gently coat the ground beneath them.
The festival also serves as a showcase for Japanese culture. Workshops, exhibits and activities are available to visitors. Taiko drumming, children's book readings, imperial court music and guided tours are just some of the things visitors can experience. All events are free with paid admission to the gardens.
Dates for the festival are subject to the blooming of the trees, which usually occur late April to early May.
Admission:
Adults $8
Seniors/Students: $4
