Chinese New Year
Colorful parades, festive atmosphere and crowds and crowds of people. Chinatown celebrates Chinese New Year usually around February, but does not fall on the same date every year. Festivities go on for days starting with the Firecracker Ceremony and Cultural Festival. The explosive sounds are intended to ward of evil spirits.
Canal Street fills will spectators ready to see the sights and sounds of the Annual Chinese Lunar Year Parade. Other events are also held in Queens and Greenwich Village, while some performances are carried out at Radio City Music Hall.
