Christmas Tree Lighting at Rockefeller Center

Organizers search high and low for the perfect tree to be decorated and lit up in front of millions live and across the nation at Rockefeller Center in Midtown. Celebrities, artists and politicians come out to declare the start of the holiday season in New York. Over 30,000 lights lit up around an enormous tree topped by a gorgeous crystal star.

The two-hour ceremony features live performance by artists we all know and love. Past performers include Christina Aguilera, Lionel Richie, Enya and Bette Midler. The event is free and open to the public, making it almost impossible to see anything. If you must attend the event, get there early, if not avoid the area all together.
