Puerto Rican Day Parade
First held in "El Barrio," better known as Spanish Harlem, in Manhattan, the Puerto Rican Day Parade has grown to the largest parade and second largest event in New York. The event encompasses seven major events, including the parade which attracts over 80,000 marchers and 2 million spectators. The parade runs along Fifth Avenue from 44th Street to 86th Street.
Held the second Sunday in June, the event honors the 4 million Puerto Ricans living on the island, Puerto Ricans that have immigrated to the United States and those of Puerto Rican heritage.
