Whitney Museum of American Art

At the Whitney Museum of American Art travelers will find some of the best work of by American artists in the Upper East Side. This New York museum is named after its founder, Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney. This museum is housed in a 1966 building designed by Marcel Breuer.
On display, you can find art from the turn of the century period to current day. See works of art by Edward Hopper, Georgia O'Keeffe, Louise Nevelson, Jackson Pollock, Louise Bourgeois and Jasper Johns.
The museum runs various programs for all age groups to promote art and to create awareness. Kids will like hands-on activity while you attend a seminar and meet with working artists.
Neighboring attractions located with in walking distance include the Frick Collection, Metropolitan Museum of Art and Central Park.
