Century 21 Shopping

The Century 21 Department Store is a bargain shoppers dream come true. The giant four-story New York department store is located a 22 Cortland St, between Church St. and Broadway. It is close to the site of the World Trade Center but the Century 21 Department Store survived the damage from the terrorist attacks of September 11. The store has fifteen departments of designer merchandise and top quality products, marked down to 40% to 70% from the retail prices. The Century 21 Departments Store has a selection of American and international designer clothing for men, women, and children. The most exclusive couture designer jeans at The Century 21 Department Store will cost as much as a pair of normal Levi jeans. There are many options for New York hotel accommodations near the Century 21 Department Store.

The Century 21 Department Store also sells: electronics, gifts, luggage, house wares, linens, shoes, lingerie, cosmetics, handbags, and accessories. The main level of the store has menswear with deep discounts on ties, overcoats, and dress shirts. The electronics and household items such as low-priced pillows, sheets, and towels, are located in the basement. There are two floors of women's clothing and accessories. The second floor is for juniors, lingerie, and shoes. The third floor is the high fashion center with designer brands selling for rock bottom prices. The store has door-less dressing rooms for women and no dressing rooms for men.

The Century 21 Department Store is known for attracting large crowds, particularly during special sale events. Their "Fashion Worth Fighting For" slogan refers to the push shoppers who jostle for the discount designer luxury goods. The store also has a reputation for long lines, disorganized merchandise, rude staff, and messy changing rooms. The store has bad flat lighting and worse music that is interrupted every five or ten minutes for in store announcements. Some of the merchandise is tethered to the racks by security devices which require a salesperson to disconnect. Despite these shortcomings, the deals are just too good to beat and many shoppers are willing to brave the masses in search of the next great shopping find.

During the busiest times, the store imposes a five item limit. Holiday shoppers are advised to stay at one of the hotels in the area and split the shopping into several trips. The savings alone will more than cover the cost. The store has a huge selection and it is impossible to see it all in one visit. This store does not have the glitz and glamour of some other New York stores, but the merchandise is all top quality and there is something here from almost every A- list designer in the world.
