USTA National Tennis Center New York
Located in Flushing, Queens the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center is the largest public tennis center in the world. In 1978, the United States Tennis Association converted a former World's Fair site into the USTA National Tennis Center. On the opening night of 2006 U.S. Open, this center was renamed to honor the tennis legend Billie Jean King as the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
For eleven months of the year, the public can use the 33 DecoTurf courts (for $16 per hour), 22 of which are situated inside the facility. You will need proper shoes and a racket to play on the same courts as Billie Jean King, Maria Sharapova, Jimmy Connors, Arthur Ashe and Andre Agassi. After a tiring game, you can relax in the television lounges oe stroll through their archive exhibits.
If you are there in August and September, watch Serena Williams in action at the U.S. Open Grand Slam tennis tournament. The "Home of the US Open Tennis Championships", can also host your event, party or meeting at its restaurants, meeting spaces and stadiums.
The center promotes the game of tennis through training programs for all ages and also the physically challenged. Jana Hunsaker Memorial Wheelchair Tennis Tournament is held at this location. The professional coaches conduct summer tennis camps, group and also private lessons.
